It runs on its own, and tells you about anything it isn’t sure of.
Billit keeps its own database of customers and products, so the integration works on a “set and forget” basis. When something isn’t certain, the document stays as a draft and you get an email with the reason. Fix it and finalize it with one click.
An occasional look at your account is enough to catch any resends, in case myDATA was temporarily down.

Installation

Trial period
For about 1 week (depending on how often you get orders) you test and fine-tune the settings without sending anything to myDATA.

Turn on myDATA
You clean up the account, turn on myDATA, and from then on every order creates an invoice automatically.
Nothing uncertain gets sent to myDATA
Billit would rather ask you than send something wrong to AADE.
Dollars, pounds, any currency
Selling in dollars? In pounds? The document is issued in euros, as it should be.
- Conversion happens automatically, at the day’s rate from the European Central Bank.
- The customer sees what they paid. The original amount and the exchange rate are printed on the document.
- If no exchange rate is found, no document is issued with a wrong number.
Checking the VAT number
We don’t take the VAT number the customer enters on the order at face value. Billit actually checks it.
- GR Greek VAT number (AFM). It asks AADE, if you have added your credentials. Otherwise it checks VIES.
- EU VAT number from another EU country. It checks VIES.
- — Outside the EU. There is no registry to ask.
If the VAT number can’t be verified, the document stays as a draft and you see it first.
When a document stays as a draft
- A product comes in that it doesn’t know, or one with no type set in a mixed store.
- The sale’s VAT rate doesn’t exist in Billit.
- The customer’s VAT number couldn’t be verified.
- The amounts don’t add up. If what Shopify says differs from what we calculate, we stop.
Either way, you get an email explaining what went wrong. Fix it and finalize it with one click.

Are the invoices legal and valid?
Absolutely! Every invoice is sent automatically to AADE’s myDATA and receives a MARK (unique registration number) and a QR code. We work with the certified e-invoicing provider ILYDA S.A.
What happens if something goes wrong with an invoice?
If there is a problem, the invoice is set to "DRAFT" instead of being rejected outright. That way you can fix it manually before sending it to myDATA, without losing any data.
How does OSS support work?
When you sell to a consumer in another EU country and you have set up Shopify for OSS sales, Billit reads the data from Shopify automatically and applies the destination country’s VAT according to the myDATA specifications. It also produces detailed sales reports by country and rate, which make the OSS return easier for your accountant.
Why is there a trial period?
The trial period lets you set up your invoice types correctly, check that products sync properly and see how your invoices will look, all without anything being sent to myDATA yet. If you would still rather start right away and keep an eye on it yourself, you can of course do that.
How much does it cost?
You start with a 14-day free trial. On top of that there is the provider’s cost, which covers buying units in advance. The provider’s pricing changes very often, so ask us for a quote.
I already have another provider. Do I need to switch?
Yes, you will need to switch provider. For now our integration works only with ILYDA S.A.
